Frequently Asked Questions

  • The costs of seeing a therapist in San Jose, and across CA, will vary considerably depending on factors like location, education & experience of the therapists, in vs. out-of-network, and others.

Women’s Wellness Psychiatry specializes in providing comprehensive mental health care that demands a personalized, tailor-made approach. As such, we do not follow the one-size-fits-all treatment guidelines dictated by most insurance companies and are out-of-network. Our fees are commensurate with our unique expertise and can be viewed under the Services/Rates page.

  • Yes! We offer virtual therapy for patients across California, including those in San Jose. This provides you with more flexibility while still ensuring you receive expert care.

  • Our goal is to provide personalized care without dictation of treatment by an insurance company or administrator. Therefore, at this time, I do not accept any insurance plans.

If you have a PPO plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement from your insurance company for out of network services. If so, I am happy to provide a monthly invoice (AKA superbill) to submit. I recommend you contact your insurance company and check. Here are several questions to consider asking:

** Do I have an annual deductive for outpatient mental health services with a psychiatrist?

** How much is my co-pay or co-insurance per visit?

** How many visits do I have annually?

** Are there limitations on the conditions/diagnoses that can be reimbursed?

You can also consider using your FSA (Flexible Savings Account) for reimbursement of service fees.

  • Finding the right therapist involves considering factors like their specialty, approach to therapy, availability, and whether they offer in-person or virtual sessions. At Women’s Wellness Psychiatry, we provide a free consultation to help determine if we’re the right fit for your needs.

  • Our team includes therapists and reproductive & holistic psychiatrists, allowing us to offer both therapy and medication management, in addition to other integrative & complementary treatment tools, for those who may benefit from a combined approach.

  • The primary distinction between a psychiatrist and a psychologist lies in their training and treatment approaches. Psychiatrists are medical doctors (MDs or DOs) who can prescribe medication, while psychologists hold doctoral degrees (PhDs or PsyDs) and focus on providing therapy. Therefore, psychiatrists typically manage mental health conditions with a combination of medication and therapy, whereas psychologists primarily utilize various forms of psychotherapy
