What a kind, caring, and knowledgeable group ya’ll are! Seeing a psychiatrist virtually was a first for me but from my first phone consult, intake and all the follow ups and therapy sessions I’ve felt so supported and well taken care of. I’ve appreciated your balanced, holistic approach and it’s been so educational to learn how to truly take care of myself beyond just reaching for meds. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me. I can’t recommend Women’s Wellness enough!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The costs of seeing a psychiatrist in Santa Barbara, and across Southern CA, will vary considerably depending on factors like location, education & experience of the clinicians, in vs. out-of-network, and others. Average ranges for an initial assessment are $400-700, and for follow up visits are $250-500.

Women’s Wellness Psychiatry specializes in providing comprehensive mental health care that demands a personalized, tailor-made approach. As such, we do not follow the one-size-fits-all treatment guidelines dictated by most insurance companies and are out-of-network. Our fees are commensurate with our unique expertise and can be viewed under the Services/Rates page.

  • Yes, in most cases, you can go straight to a psychiatrist without a referral, especially if you’re paying out of pocket. However, if you're using insurance, some plans require a referral from a primary care doctor. It also depends on where you live—some healthcare systems or clinics might have their own rules.

  • Seeing a psychiatrist in Santa Barbara, and across California, can be difficult due to a shortage of providers, high demand, and long waitlists. Many don’t accept insurance, making care less accessible, and some require referrals, adding extra steps. Burnout and retirements further strain the system, while limited appointment availability makes scheduling tough. These factors create significant barriers for those seeking mental health support.

At Women’s Wellness Psychiatry we have an expert team of reproductive & holistic psychiatrists and offer appointment availability within a week. If interested, please book your free consult with our founder & head Psychiatrist, Dr. Glezer, as your first step.

  • No. We will work together to decide if medications would be a helpful part of your treatment plan. However, for many patients, psychotherapy and complimentary treatment can be very effective. There is good research on the success of psychotherapy and even how it changes our brain chemistry.

  • My goal is to provide personalized care without dictation of treatment by an insurance company or administrator. Therefore, at this time, I do not accept any insurance plans.

If you have a PPO plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement from your insurance company for out of network services. If so, I am happy to provide a monthly invoice (AKA superbill) to submit. I recommend you contact your insurance company and check. Here are several questions to consider asking:

** Do I have an annual deductive for outpatient mental health services with a psychiatrist?

** How much is my co-pay or co-insurance per visit?

** How many visits do I have annually?

** Are there limitations on the conditions/diagnoses that can be reimbursed?

You can also consider using your FSA (Flexible Savings Account) for reimbursement of service fees.
