What is a Holistic Psychiatrist?
A holistic psychiatrist focuses on mental well-being and wellness rather than just illness. It means looking at the entire person - the biological, genetic, lifestyle, social, and psychological factors - when determining what might be contributing to symptoms & using that holistic approach to craft a treatment plan.
What are the benefits of seeing one?
Our holistic psychiatrists go beyond symptoms to identify & address the root causes of mental health challenges via the mind-body-spirit connection. We integrate diverse, evidence-based treatment options beyond medication, creating a highly personalized and collaborative care experience. Ultimately, the focus is on fostering long-term mental & emotional well-being for each of our patiens.

Case Study: A Holistic Treatment Plan for Suzie
Suzie is a woman in her 30s with a toddler, and came to see us several weeks postpartum with her second child citing her primary concern as anxiety and a sense of overwhelm.
-
By listening to her entire history, we learned that she has a predisposition to anxiety because of a family history & some personal experience.
She shared that her sleep is impacted by her baby & toddler & often lays awake ruminating, often does not have time to sit down & eat because of how busy the home is, & hasn’t been able to make time to see her friends since delivery. She struggled initially with breastfeeding & the upcoming return to work makes her feel anxious, especially as she’s felt more forgetful recently. She described perfectionist tendencies & feelings of guilt as a mom.
-
After an extensive assessment, which included some labs, questionnaires, and extensive conversations, we discussed that Suzie is likely experiencing postpartum anxiety, which is quite treatable.
-
We discussed a holistic plan that included a variety of options —
Botanicals to help her sleep; Micronutrients due to low levels, the option of gentle medication;
Psychotherapy;
Reconnecting with her social network and strategies to accomplish this;
Nutritional recommendations and the importance of the gut-brain connection, & more!
We saw Suzie regularly on her journey and she was able to have a successful transition back to work and enjoy her postpartum experience!

Frequently Asked Questions
-
The costs of seeing a holistic psychiatrist across CA will vary considerably depending on factors like location, education & experience of the clinicians, in vs. out-of-network, and others. Women’s Wellness Psychiatrists specialize in providing comprehensive mental health care that demands a personalized, tailor-made approach. As such, we do not follow the one-size-fits-all treatment guidelines dictated by most insurance companies and are out-of-network. Our fees are commensurate with our unique expertise and can be viewed under the Services/Rates page.
-
Yes! We are accepting new patients. We have same and next-week availability. Our concierge care model caps the volume of patients each physician sees to help ensure flexible scheduling for patients, especially for any urgent needs. We primarily see patients via Telehealth (i.e. virtually), throughout the state of California. In-person visits, when necessary, can be arranged in our S.F. Bay Area or Los Angeles offices.
-
Our goal is to provide personalized care without dictation of treatment by an insurance company or administrator. Therefore, at this time, I do not accept any insurance plans. Please read this important notice by Dr. Glezer outlining the key significant challenges that come with accepting insurance for mental health treatment.
If you have a PPO plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement from your insurance company for out of network services. If so, I am happy to provide a monthly invoice (AKA superbill) to submit. I recommend you contact your insurance company and check. Here are several questions to consider asking:
** Do I have an annual deductive for outpatient mental health services with a psychiatrist?
** How much is my co-pay or co-insurance per visit?
** How many visits do I have annually?
** Are there limitations on the conditions/diagnoses that can be reimbursed?
You can also consider using your FSA (Flexible Savings Account) for reimbursement of service fees.

Our holistic psychiatrists specialize in taking an individualized whole-person approach to your mental health, paying special attention to the mind, body, lifestyle, and environment.
Instead of focusing only on diagnosing and medicating symptoms, we also explore root causes and integrative treatments.
-
Patients seeking a holistic psychiatrist across CA and who intend to pay out-of-pocket are not required to obtain a referral from a primary care physician. This allows for direct access to psychiatrists and empowers women to seek specialized treatment without navigating additional administrative steps.
-
We are primarily a telehealth practice, as this allows us to serve our hundreds of patients residing throughout California. When necessary, we can arrange in-person appointments in either our S.F. Bay Area or Los Angeles offices.
